Testavan is a 2% testosterone gel used for testosterone replacement therapy (TRT) in adult males with confirmed hypogonadism. Each actuation of the metered-dose pump delivers 1.15g of gel containing 23mg of testosterone. Unlike other testosterone gels applied to the shoulders or upper arms, Testavan is specifically designed for application to the inner thighs — a site that is typically covered by clothing during daily activities and may reduce the risk of accidental testosterone transfer to household members or partners. Testavan is a prescription-only medicine available following full clinical assessment at PrimeLife.
How It Works
Testavan is absorbed transdermally through the skin of the inner thighs into the systemic circulation, raising serum testosterone levels into the physiological range. Daily application provides consistent and stable testosterone replacement, minimising the peaks and troughs associated with less frequent injectable dosing. The inner thigh application site is typically covered by clothing during normal daily activities, which may reduce the risk of accidental transfer to partners, children, or household members compared to shoulder or upper arm application sites. As with all topical testosterone, the application area must be allowed to dry fully before contact with clothing, and hands must be washed thoroughly after application.
Why Choose Testavan for TRT
Testavan’s dedicated inner thigh application site makes it a practical option for patients who are particularly conscious of the transfer risk associated with topical testosterone gels, providing reassurance that the application area is less likely to come into skin contact with others during routine daily interaction. The 2% concentration delivers effective testosterone from a relatively small volume per actuation, and the metered pump provides accurate and consistent dosing with each application.
As with all TRT at PrimeLife, Testavan dose is individually determined by the prescribing clinician based on regular serum testosterone monitoring, with adjustments made to maintain levels within the physiological target range throughout treatment. Patients receive comprehensive training and guidance on application technique, storage, and safety precautions before commencing treatment.
Important Note
Testavan is a prescription-only medicine for adult males only. It must not be used in women or children. Despite the inner thigh application site, a risk of testosterone transfer to others through clothing or direct skin contact remains. Application sites should be covered after the gel dries and hands washed after use. Common side effects include application site reactions, acne, increased body hair, and elevated haematocrit. Regular blood monitoring including testosterone, haematocrit, and PSA is required throughout treatment. This medication must only be used as directed by a qualified prescriber as part of a supervised TRT programme.
